FED:Oppn calls for equal flood aid for farmers

CANBERRA, Jan 10 AAP - The federal opposition has called for a boost in assistance
to flood-hit farmers and businesses in Western Australia and NSW.

Under an agreement with the Queensland government, the federal government is providing
$25,000 in support grants to farmers and businesses affected by flooding.

But NSW and WA farmers and businesses get $15,000 under separate agreements between
their states and the commonwealth.

The difference sparked an angry outcry from WA farmers during a visit by the prime
minister last week.
