NSW: DNA testing may be required to identify train crash dead
SYDNEY, Feb 1 AAP - DNA testing may be needed to positively identify some of the victimsof the Sydney train derailment, police said today.
"Visual identification is not possible in some cases. It may require DNA testing,"
a police spokeswoman said.
As a result, police will not release a list of names of those killed until formal identificationhas taken place, she said.
Eight people died and more than 40 were injured when a southbound commuter train travellingbetween Sydney's Central Station and Port Kembla derailed at 7.15am yesterday.
Emergency services crews, police and railway investigators continued their search forevidence today at the crash scene, four km south of Waterfall.
